CC25 - Comfort of Home

Michael Lance, Thursday June 25, 2020

Sometimes it takes extraordinary circumstances to come up with the most basic of ideas.

Sitting on my couch in early May, 9 weeks after we were all quarantined to our homes Chris sent the most innocent of text messages.  He asked Andrew and I,if we would be interested in playing a dart match online.

The next 30 minutes changed Cloon Cup Darts forever.

Wondering if more than the just the 3 of us would be interested a ‘WhatsApp’ Cloon Cup Darts group was created.  Within 30 minutes 7 of the 8 people contacted jumped at the chance to play a new season of Cloon Cup Darts.  A league that played 24 seasons between 1997 and 2015 was revived.

During a 2 week period of everyone getting dart boards set up and Chris working on an online scorer to help keep track and make the games easier to play online.   The 25th Cloon Cup started on May 16th.  For the first time ever, every player got to play in the comfort of their own homes on their own boards.   Will home court provide success to those long awaiting the chance to claim the Cup or will the the Champions of the past spoil it?
